The events that move gold, oil and stocks
- FOMC decisions, eight times a year at 2:00 p.m. ET. They reset expectations for interest rates. See how the Fed affects gold.
- CPI inflation, monthly from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Hot inflation can mean higher rates for longer.
- Nonfarm payrolls, usually the first Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. ET. The broadest read on US hiring.
